I never knew about Jesus more than a man hanged on the cross. I am being very honest. I grew up knowing more how to be like people in the Bible but Jesus remained a sidekick, only mentioned in the conclusion of almost all the messages. I was puzzled many times by the thought of Jesus. I know Paul, I know Peter, Daniel, Joseph, But Jesus? People tell me He died for me because I am a sinner. Those words didn't hit me hard not until my professor asked, “What is the Gospelness of the Gospel? “ Oh, is there such a word? Gospelness?
Many times in the Christian world the Gospel means the message of the Good News of Salvation. So when our teacher, asked us the question, we all gave out our best answers. However, we were never successful in any of our attempts.
Finally, my teacher gave up on trying to extract something from our brains. We cannot just hit it. He then explained, “the gospelness of the Gospel is nothing but Jesus Christ”? It is Him that makes the good News a good news. Jesus is what we needed more than the good message. We need the CHRIST, not just the message, not just the understanding but really the person of the good news."
"JESUS is the good news."
Jesus is the good news. But many times it was the message and not Jesus. It was the truth more than Jesus. When all starts and ends up in Christ, often we forget HIS great and wonderful acts towards us. The message can only be the tool but the One who does the miracle-working power is Christ. HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS THE POWER TO CHANGE US. HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO SETS US FREE. It is not the message alone, it is not the reflection, it not the interpretation--IT IS ONLY CHRIST!
IT IS ONLY THE WORK OF CHRIST TO SINFUL HUMANITY THAT WILL GIVE US HOPE. CHRIST IS THE VERY NEED OF THIS WORLD. HUMANITY'S HOPE RESTS IN CHRIST ALONE! FROM HERE EVERYTHING COMES SECONDARY.
Oh, I got the point, finally, the message can only be the Gospel if the redemptive works of God is magnified—the truth of His character, His love, His wonderful works, His mercies, and His Judgments. The Gospel message without Christ is not good news at all. It can only be a message but never the Gospel. Void of the redemptive works of the love of God to fallen humanity, it is never the Gospel. May be you ask where can we find all these perspectives? It is in the Bible—God’s redemptive story.
When Christ is the center of the message. When Christ is lifted up, He will draw all men to Him.
What a no secret I have never realized before. When I understood this and look at the Bible from this perspective, the Bible became the true Gospel in my life. All the characters just simply fade away from my vision and Christ and His wonderful saving work becomes very clear and BIG, and it turned my life around. I only started to change when finally I found CHRIST, I was changed by this Gospel. This maybe is your turn!
Keep passing on the light!
