Gospel Thoughts Journal #3: Sabbath and It's Beauty

Sabbath comes and re-attaches us to our foundation, everything that is anything to us becomes that only because God created it and us to begin with.

Sabbath is A SIGN THAT TELLS OF WHO GOD IS NOT WHO WE ARE. SABBATH IS A SIGN THAT TELLS US THAT we have someone who is for us.

The Sabbath is a sign of God’s saving grace; it’s not a sign of salvation by works. SABBATH IS ABOUT HUMANITY HAVING A SAVIOR AND DOES NOT NEED TO SAVE HIMSELF.

HUMANITY RECEIVES SANCTIFICATION THROUGH THE REDEEMING WORK OF GOD ALONE. It's God's work that SANCTIFies us not our works. So it is not our works on the Sabbath that make it Holy but who is inside our hearts.

Indeed, in remembering Creation and the Creator, God’s people also remember God’s gracious acts of salvation. The Sabbath is a sign that communicates that

God is the Creator of the world and the Creator of our salvation.

Therefore, Sabbath Keepers are...

A PEOPLE WHO REMEMBER THE SABBATH AND KEEP THE SABBATH in their hearts BECAUSE THEY ARE IN LOVE WITH THEIR GOD--CREATOR AND SAVIOR. IT IS THE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM THAT DEFINES THEIR SABBATH KEEPING NOT THEIR DESIRE TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING something FROM GOD.

IT IS NOT TO SHOW THAT THEY ARE RIGHTEOUS AND GOOD AND SO THEY DESERVE GOD'S FAVOR AND THEY ARE HIS PEOPLE.

THEY ARE HIS PEOPLE BECAUSE HE CREATED THEM, CHOSEN THEM TO BE BORN, THEY ARE HIS TREASURED POSSESSION. NO AMOUNT OF SIN WILL OR CAN CHANGE THIS REALITY. IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM NOT US.

WE ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE REST NOT NECESSARILY BECAUSE OF THE DAY BUT BECAUSE OF THE KIND OF RELATIONSHIP WE HAVE IN JESUS that the day has brought us. SABBATH IS A SIGN OF GOD'S FAITHFULNESS AND COVENANTAL LOVE, NOT ABOUT OUR FAITHFULNESS...

IT REMINDS US OF GOD'S PLACE AND OUR PLACE.

WHO IS GOD? CREATOR AND RE-CREATOR (REDEEMER)- HE IS GOD/ HE IS THE SOLE PROVIDER FOR THE GOOD OF MAN.

WHO ARE WE? CREATED- FALLEN AND REBELLIOUS, WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL AND WILL NEVER BE THE PROVIDER OF OUR WON SALVATION.
