Heb 12:14 "Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord."

The first half of chapter 12 was about God's training through trials and persecution.

The second half emphasizes peace and holy living.

It seems to me that we must seek peace and holy living in times of trial and persecution to show God's light.

'Peace' is not only about getting along but also about respecting others, recognizing and accepting their differences, and forgiving each other.

And to achieve this, holy living is essential.

A 'holy life' is one in which we accept the Holy Spirit and let Him, not ourselves, rule.

It is a life in which we acknowledge that we cannot do anything on our own and that we depend on God.

Our God is doing an overflowing work to meet our needs, of which we are unaware.

God opens our eyes so that we can see His work as we lift our eyes to Him and pray and ask.

And we don't just see God's work; we see God Himself.

God's image is still dim at the moment, but the time when we can see Him clearly is surely approaching.

The image of God we see is a God who is looking forward to meeting us, and a God who is so eager to meet us that He is rushing towards us.
