Gospel Reflections #613: Are you thirsty?

John 4:14 “But whoever drinks of the water I give him will never thirst."
We can only get true healing and fulfillment with water from God.
But we often look for it in the blessings God gives us rather than from God Himself.
It seems to me that the water God gives us is not given to us through Bible study, service, prayer, etc., but rather we receive it from our experience of being with God in relationship with Him.
We sometimes create idols in our own thoughts, even as Christians.
Only God can give us spiritual water.
And God will give it to us if we ask for it.
We often think we know what we are asking for when we don't even know what we are asking for, and we often put our own thoughts on idols and think that they are right.
When we realize that our hearts are thirsty, that is when God is calling us, when we return to Him.
When we do, we should not look at our own inadequacy, but turn our eyes, ears, and hearts to God, who is always calling us.
The water that God gives us does not stop with us, but becomes a river of joy and blessing that spreads to all people.
