Luke 2:7 "And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manger. For there was no room for them in the inn."
At the time of Christ's birth, Joseph and Mary had to travel for a world-wide population census.
Then they gave birth to the firstborn who would become Christ in Bethlehem.
Christ's advent had been prophesied, but few seemed to be interested in it and eagerly awaited it.
Even at the time of Christ's birth, Satan was moving around trying to prevent His birth, but God left them in His protection.
Joseph and Mary had no place to stay, but God gave them a stable.
We too have our needs met by God.
When we look at that, we can see how much God has done for us and how much He is going to do for us.
God's will is revealed only to those who seek Him with an open heart.
God is not stingy in showing us His will.
It's just that we don't choose to receive it or even think about receiving it because we don't even know it's given to us.
We are travelers in this world, and we want to look to God, not to ourselves, to help us realize that He has provided everything we need for our journey.
The fact that Jesus was born in a stable and the manger was his bed does not mean that he was born in a dirty place or in a miserable situation, but that God is always with us, no matter where we are or what our circumstances are, leaving us in a space of peace and quiet joy in God's protection, undisturbed. It is up to us to accept and be thankful for the stable and manger.
