Paul has proclaimed nothing but Jesus. When the transforming love of God touched his life, Saul was turned, Paul. God is in the business of turning people’s lives. God is in the business of overlooking who you are and just accepts you just as you are. If there are any lines I will never tire myself of hearing are these beautiful lines of God’s grace.
Grace, the act of paying the payment we all can’t afford to pay. Someone volunteered to pay your debt. Paul in his entire life felt so indebted by this love that passes all his understanding.
A section of what Paul wrote in the book of Romans constitute that very hope in the encompassing love of God. Paul is convinced that God’s love is not only when we are strong, valiant, and perfect, but even more when we are weak and struggling. God’s love is revealed to the presence of the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. Paul is convinced that the fullness of God’s presence has never left us when Jesus went back to heaven. God has secured the promised presence and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Who is according to John will act as our counselor, the revealer of the truth in Jesus Christ, and our comforter. Please pay attention to the work of the Holy Spirit, to comfort, to reveal, and to counsel. This is not for those who are strong. You will never counsel a perfectly okay individual. You will never comfort the joyful. You will never reveal the truth to the enlightened. The work of the Holy Spirit is for you and me—the weak, the imperfect, the confused, the troubled, and the sinner.
Rom. 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Friends, it is not just God, it is not just Jesus, there is also the Holy Spirit. The encompassing presence of an unseen mover for repentance, conviction, and grace.
You are never alone in your weaknesses. The very moment you are feeling that weakness you are not abandoned because you are weak, no you are not forsaken. The work of the unseen mover is interceding for you.
It is certainly God’s will for us to be comforted, counseled, and enlightened. He sees we are weak, confused, and troubled and God never left us alone He sent us Someone who will be with you.
You are not alone, friends.
Paul is convinced.
John declared it.
The Holy Spirit is given for you—sinner, troubled, and confused.
YOUR BROKENNESS DOES NOT PUSH GOD AWAY, IT PULLS HIM CLOSER.
